Zefra was founded by a Coast Guard veteran and mechanical engineer who spent two and a half years engineering the portable fan the outdoor world should have had all along.
Scott Olsowski spent nearly a decade in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in South Florida. After transitioning from service, he pursued mechanical engineering at Florida Atlantic University, where he honed his skills in 3D modeling and product development during an internship designing superchargers for power plants.
It was on a South Florida golf course where the idea for Zefra was born.
Golfing in the Florida summer heat, Scott searched for a portable fan that could mount to a golf cart and actually survive outdoor conditions. What he found was cheap plastic, weak mounts, and fans that rattled apart on the first bump of the cart path.
As a father of two young children, he had watched the same story play out with stroller fans, cycling through three broken units in six months.
He saw a massive gap in the market. Every portable fan was built for a desk and repackaged for the outdoors. Nobody had stepped in to build the premium, durable option. The opportunity was the same one Yeti saw before they transformed the cooler market.
That night, Scott sat down and started modeling.
Two and a half years. Seven prototypes. Countless hours of 3D modeling in the garage. From a rough concept to a production-ready product engineered from aircraft-grade aluminum, backed by a patent-pending interchangeable mounting system, and manufactured by a factory that builds products for dynamic, demanding environments.
The result is the MistOne.
